OSHA Training and Regulatory Resources for Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania Safety Training Programs follow federal law guidelines for employer compliance. The Pennsylvania Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) administers laws assuring that workers are insured against job-related injury, illness, or death. The BWC Health and Safety Division is responsible for enforcement of the health and safety regulations of the Workers’ Compensation Act.

Pennsylvania does not have an approved state plan approved by OSHA. However, employers are obligated under the General Duty Clause of  the  OSH Act of 1970 to provide a safety and healthy work environment for all workers. Pennsylvania safety laws are passed by the legislature and in many cases are more strict and specific thatn federal guidelines.

Workers in the construction industry in Pennsylvania are encouraged to take an authorized essential safety course before working on the job site. Courses for these workers include the OSHA 10 Hour Construction Training Course. Supervisors and executive may wish to take advanced courses. This would include the OSHA 30 Hour Construction Training Course. All courses are OSHA Approved in all 50 states. The courses are sufficient to earn the Department of Labor OSHA Wallet card.
