Certified Environmental Specialist
OSHA Pros is offering a comprehensive training course for those individuals performing environmental and/or safety responsibilities for a consultant, in a general industry, or in the military. This course is intended to provide those who work in this capacity with a knowledge of the most basic and significant laws and regulations pertaining to air, water, waste water pollution, solid/hazardous wastes, and safety. Regulatory standards addressed in this training include but are not limited to:
- Risk-Based Corrective Action (RCBA)
- The Emergency Planning And Community Right-To-Know Act (EPCRA)
- Spill Prevention, Control, and Counter-Measure program (SPCC)
- The Clean Air Act (CAA)
- The Clean Water Act (CWA)
- The Toxic Substances Control Act of 1976 (TSCA)
- Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA)
This training course will provide a survey of the United States Environmental Protection Agency and their internal processes along with pertinent instruction in a variety of protocols, environmental laws, and regulations.
As environmental specialists may be tasked with a range of responsibilities, from the management or abatement of hazardous waste or materials to the advisement of environmental policy-makers, the scope of this training-course is purposely broad. The Environmental Specialist position is one of the most rapidly growing in popularity and can encompass any of the following responsibilities:
- Industrial Health and Hygiene,
- Water Management
- Large-Scale Environmental Landscaping
- Food Regulation and Protection
- Environmental Marketing
- Air Pollution Specialist
The purpose of this training course is to provide students with the tools necessary to identify and implement all general aspects of basic EPA laws and regulations, the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and the RCRA. As well, all students will come away from the course with a proficiency in identifying and implementing various waste management systems.
To receive certification in this training course, the student will be required to complete three module-quizzes and a final exam. All quizzes and the final exam will be administered, online. A requisite score of 70% (or higher) on all quizzes and the final exam is required to receive certification in this course. The student may take each module quiz and/or the final exam up to three times. If the student is not successful in attaining a score of 70% (or higher) on any of the quizzes or the final exam, the student will be locked out of the course and required to repeat their Outreach training, in-person. As the course is conducted completely online, students have the benefit of completing this course at their pace; the course is available twenty-four hours-a-day and seven days-a-week.
The Certified Environmental Specialist (CES) certification received for having successfully completed the course training and passing the requisite examinations will be conferred to the graduate and can applied toward OSHA certification requirements.
One benefit of a certification of this type is that it covers a wide range of general laws and regulations, touching on a variety of subjects, from waste-water management to food protection. Some managerial best-practices and emergency protocols are addressed in this training, as well. With a large-scope survey of this type, the student comes away with a valuable base of knowledge that can translate to a number of related fields and can expedite further training and certification in local specialized fields or positions. Utilizing the subject matter in a training course like this one as a teachable resource may be one useful application for those who operate in managerial capacities. And, for those who are moving into a related or neighboring specialization or trade, which may require additional certification, using a training course like this as a study-tool may prove to be a useful application.
